One woman's trash is in my living room

So Dan says, "your last blog wasn't funny. I was waiting for the funny". So what, I am a clown? I can't have serious earth shattering opinions like grown people do? I also heard it was a rant. I can't decide what I think of that. So Lisa tells me, after she accused me of ranting, that I should blog about going to yard sales because "after all its an adventure!" Is it now?
So I am addicted to coffee, I will wait while you have time to recover from the shock of that revelation...... Ok so Lisa makes a dang mean latte and I make several little trips every week (or day) over to her house to partake. Sometimes I really have no good reason to be over there bothering her, but I am there nonetheless. So she tells me I can get an espresso machine and do this myself. I am sure there was a well intentioned hint in there somewhere, but I overlook it as she tells me about the wonderful world of garage sales. Where I am from yard sales are just people unloading junk they were too lazy or too greedy to donate. My mom tried dragging me to a few as a kid and it was not my idea of a fun weekend excursion. I generally turned my nose up at used goods. Then I had three kids and new no longer became a viable or budget friendly option.
So I jump on the band wagon because peer pressure is a ...... beast? Can I say beast and you still know what I mean? Of course you know what I mean. I have to look like all the other cool moms in my world and fit in if it kills me. So off to the yard sales I go to get my "crack machine" as Dan the man lovingly calls it.
I hate to say I was wrong, so I won't. However, I will say I found some nifty stuff at the sales. Yes there was lots of junk, I mean people, really, stop trying to sell happy meal toys. Oh and don't make me bend over and look at your junk on your lawn. At least have some pride in your crap and get a table.
In summation I do believe it to be worthwhile. I can entertain myself for cheap and its kind of like a treasure hunt....for cheap stuff I don't need. Nevertheless its what the cool moms do. So I will be cool and have a really good excuse for driving around in a car for a few hours each weekend with my enabling neighbor. Even if we ever do find me a crack machine I am still going to her house for coffee. I gotta hide from Dan somewhere.

Are there consignment sales for kids clothing and toys where you are? I am addicted to them here. There are a bunch of them in the fall and spring every year and they are huge money savers!
